Streamlining staging of colorectal cancer with Whole Body MRI

Multicentre comparison
Treatment:
All patients will undergo a whole body MRI protocol in addition to the standard staging protocol employed at their institution.
Key inclusion/exclusion criteria:
Inclusion:
- Adult patients with histologically proven or suspected colorectal cancer referred for staging.
- Suspicion of colorectal cancer.
Exclusion:
- Evidence of severe or uncontrolled systemic disease
- Contraindications to MRI
- Polyp cancer
Duration of recruitment:
4 years (closed to recruitment on 19 August 2016).
Aim
This trial evaluates whether early WB-MRI increases per patient sensitivity for metastasis in colorectal cancer compared to standard NICE-approved diagnostic pathways.
