Results of cervical cancer trial hailed as 'biggest breakthrough for decades'

Findings from a CTC-led study into cervical cancer treatment have been published in the Lancet today, prompting further coverage for a trial which first caught the attention of the public last year.

Results for the INTERLACE trial have shown a course of treatment with existing drugs prior to chemoradiation led to a 35% reduction in the risk of death or return of cancer.

The results were first presented to the public at the ESMO conference last October. More information can be read in our article at the time.

The CTC media team interviewed the trial's CI, one of its patients, and one of the statisticians responsible for deciphering the results. The article was published as part of UCL's digital campaign for World Cancer Day this year.
