Last month saw
the annual conference for the Alan Morement Memorial Fund (AMMF) take place in Stansted, UK, with some of the team behind ABC-07 in attendance to present the trial to a delegation of over 200 clinicians, scientists, patients, families and carers.
The AMMF is the UK’s only charity dedicated to tackling cholangiocarcinoma, a hard-to-detect cancer of the bile duct which is often diagnosed too late to be eligible for surgery (currently the sole potential cure).
Funded by Cancer Research UK and coordinated by the CTC, ABC-07 has been open at sites across the UK since November 2015. The trial is investigating the results of providing a course of radiotherapy treatment for patients with inoperable bile duct cancer who have already undergone chemotherapy.
Professor Maria Hawkins, the trial’s CI, remarked: ‘It was a pleasure to attend the AMMF cholangiocarcinoma conference. The day covered the current novel preclinical and clinical research aiming to improve outcomes in cholangiocarcinoma. We thank the fantastic AMMF team for giving us the opportunity to present and raise awareness of the ABC-07 trial and work together towards new research collaborations.’
